1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name.

HealthKit data. With your explicit permission, Underdog reads the following data from Apple HealthKit: heart rate samples, workout sessions, step counts, and activity metrics. This data is used solely to calculate your heart rate zone score and display your progress.

Anonymous analytics. We may collect anonymous usage data (screens viewed, feature usage) to improve the app. This never includes HealthKit data.

2. How We Use HealthKit Data

  • HealthKit data is accessed in read-only mode.
  • It is used exclusively to compute heart rate zone scores, populate your dashboard, and power league leaderboards.
  • By default, HealthKit data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers.
  • We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade HealthKit data to any third party.
  • We do not share HealthKit data with third parties without your explicit consent.

3. Optional Cloud Features

If you opt in to cloud-based features (such as cross-user league comparisons), only the minimum necessary score data is transmitted using TLS encryption. You may opt out at any time. Associated cloud data will be deleted within a reasonable timeframe upon opt-out or account deletion.

4. Subscriptions and Purchases

Underdog offers optional paid subscriptions (Underdog Pro) and a one-time lifetime purchase via Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payments are processed and managed entirely by Apple. Underdog does not directly collect or store payment card information. For subscription management, cancellation, and billing enquiries, please refer to your Apple ID account settings.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard TLS encryption for any data transmitted to our servers. On-device data is protected by iOS system-level security. We follow Apple's HealthKit data protection guidelines.

6. Your Rights

  • Delete your account: Request full account deletion within the app or by emailing hi@tryunderdog.com.
  • Export your data: Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
  • Revoke HealthKit permissions: Go to iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Underdog.

7. Medical Disclaimer

Underdog is a fitness and wellness application. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Heart rate data displayed in the app is for informational and fitness purposes only. If you have any health concerns, consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any exercise programme.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
